Owner and expert builder Brian Huffman was called to home building at a young age. “I remember driving with my Grandpa when I was a boy. He would point out projects that he built. He always talked at length about the customers that he served, not just the projects.”
Those stories formed the foundation of the Huffman Homes philosophy that building homes is more than ‘assembling bricks and sticks.’ Building homes involves a deep understanding of our clients and creating spaces that will serve their families for decades.
Huffman’s calling became a profession while he studied Building Construction Management at Michigan State University. While at MSU, he expanded a traditional construction education with an emphasis on renovations and urban planning, even seeing some of his work published in Historic Preservation Magazine.
After graduating from MSU with honors, Huffman worked in California on projects for technology customers ranging from Intel to the University of California. Homebuilding and a desire to return to his roots called him back to West Michigan, where he worked as a superintendent for a national homebuilder and as vice-president for a regional builder. Feeling the strong urge to combine his design and construction experience with a deeper level of customer service and customization, Brian launched Huffman Homes in 1998.
